And "the chocolate is not strawberry"

12 Feb

A big GRAZIE goes out to “I Gelati di Joe” for clearing this mystery up for all of us.

For his heroic efforts in the world of gelato flavoring and clarification, I hereby award Joe my “random sign of the week.” Heck, why not make it random sign of the month, for that matter. It’s in Campo de’ Fiori if you care to drop in. See what they give you when you ask for cream and chocolate…I’m curious. Maybe they’ll get all confused and start pointing to the sign.

I am so confused. Who is Joe and why doesn’t he like chocolate?

Haha. Do you know some of the history of the sign? or why the cream isn’t the chocolate? Haha. Also, I’ve been looking around hostelworld.com for some adequate (and safe!) lodgings, and this one seems pretty nice. http://www.hostelworld.com/hosteldetails.php/LegendsHostel-Rome-10610It's called ‘Legends Hostel’, and it has some good reviews. Have you heard anything good or bad about it?

maybe his quote was lost in translation??? or maybe that’s his whole marketing statergy, to attract customers to come in & ask about cream & chocolate

Yes, I’m still shaking my head on this one in confusion. I keep thinking it’s some inside joke I’m just not in on…Johna– can I call you Johna? Ha ha.. so I haven’t ever heard of that hostel but I looked up the address and like most hostels it’s near the station, but I think you can probably go by the reviews since they are from fellow hostellers… important thing is cleanliness and safety I suppose. Termini area isn’t really “dangerous” per se, just kind of a random, mixed bag typical “train station” zone like any big city, just take normal big city precautions for your belongings, etc. and you should be fine!!

Oh thank god! I am so sick and tired of asking for cream and winding up with nothing more than chocolate! Furthermore, I will occasionally confuse the two. I can now go here and know beyond doubt that the cream I order is most certainly not chocolate, no matter what my senses my tell me. WHEW!Seriously though, this is not lost in translation. The literal translation makes just as little sense. ‘Joe’ is just another in a long list of Italians that like to randomly put english words together for effect. We do the same in the states if you think aout it.
