Join the housewarming party!

11 Jun

Welcome to my new pad! In an effort to get this new location kicked into high gear as soon as possible, I’m throwing a virtual party … and yes, because I love contests, there will be prizes involved! Thanks again to my pal Sara, a.k.a. Ms. Adventures in Italy, for this great idea to encourage my regular readers to update as soon as possible.

So, crash the party and enter the contest in two easy steps:

1) If you link to At Home in Rome on your blogroll, please take a moment now to update with the new blog url: (the blog name stays the same).

2) Subscribe to my new feed by clicking here:

3) Don’t have a link? Not subscribed? You can do that now!

3) Leave a comment on this post once you’ve completed the steps above and you’ll be entered. Don’t worry, lurkers…it’s safe to come out of hiding just this once; after all, it’s a special occasion!

What’s up for grabs:

Coffee beans or ground coffee from Tazza d’Oro or CaffΓ¨ Sant’Eustachio: winner’s choice.
Some Italian gourmet chocolate: my choice.

You’ve got until June 30, and then I’m drawing a winner. Perhaps I’ll get Ale to draw it out of a hat and film it, just to mix things up a bit, and prove that it’s all on the up and up. A lawyer would never cheat on a contest….

Done! A very good idea to get people to update links – according to technorati there are still more links to my old blogspot address than to my new url… which happens to be just in case you’re interested. πŸ™‚

  2. Jul June 12, 2007 at 12:30 am #

And obviously I should win a prize for being first. πŸ™‚

Yeah a party!!!!! I love parties. I also love the 2 cafe’s in your post. I updated you on my blogroll Shelley…good luck with your ‘move’…mine was stressful..but it is almost completed!!!

Hi! I’m one of those lurkers you spoke directly to. I’ve been enjoying your posts for a few months now. I tried to leave a comment once, but Blogger wasn’t having it. So, I’ll rephrase: When the Consort and I spent a year traveling through Europe, we didn’t much like Italy (except Sicily and those yummy “brioche” ice cream treats!): it was expensive, and the people weren’t very friendly. But thanks to your blog, I think I like Italy now. Thanks for giving us a peek into Rome and daily life there.

    Congratulations on your new digs!

Me first! Me first! I’ve done all of the above. Now, make with the movie.

Hey Shelley! We’re thinking of changing our blog to our own place too! Yours looks good.

If I win you can just save me one of those Coffee Slushies at Tazza d’Oro or that choco-coffee at the Cafffe (with 3 f’s) when we see you in a couple months πŸ™‚ YUM!

Hi guys! I’m having some trouble getting all the kinks worked out…and trying to figure out how to get comments up automatically… and making sure the page loads… bear with me… thanks!!

  19. Cherrye June 12, 2007 at 10:59 am #

You are updated on My Bella Vita.

Good luck with the move…I wouldn’t even try it! πŸ™‚

  20. Shelley, At Home in Rome June 12, 2007 at 12:14 pm #

Yes, I have more than a few fingers crossed that it doesn’t somehow self-destruct after a couple days. (facciamo le corna!) This move is something I’ve been contemplating for a while. I didn’t like how Blogger gave you no control over what goes on the server, and WordPress allowed me to do a lot more with the template. But if it weren’t for Sara I’d never have figured out the technical, behind-the-scenes side though. Thank goodness for amiche!

  21. jessica in rome June 12, 2007 at 12:29 pm #

Congrats on the new site!! I am all about possibly winning stuff, and the postage would be cheap-haha. Speaking of little to no postage, we need to trade books!

  24. Buda Baby June 12, 2007 at 1:39 pm #

Link updated, and newly subscribed to the feed! I’ve been thinking about moving to WordPress too – Live Spaces is way too constricting.

Love your blog, and if you are ever in Budapest, let me treat you to an espresso that will make your socks roll up and down in delight.

  25. joanna June 12, 2007 at 2:50 pm #

De-lurking long enough to say good luck with the move, and for the possibility of coffee and chocolate. πŸ™‚ I’m in the midst of moving from the States to Rome right now – I was in Rome two weeks ago checking out my apartment (in Prati), and will be there permanently by the end of the month. Thanks for a great blog!

Complimenti! Looks fabulous! Link changed, feed subscribed to, and I’m still feeling lucky after winning Eat, Pray, Love…by the way, a couple train rides yesterday means that I’m already 100+ pages in. Loooove it πŸ™‚

  37. tweir June 13, 2007 at 4:06 pm #

Congrats on your new home! Looking forward to trying out Coffee Slushies at Tazza d’Oro in a month. I’m all linked up so that I get some more great tips before we come. Any particular magazines that would be good to bring and leave at the apartment when we come at the end of July. It’ll be a long flight over so I’ll be buying a bunch.

    Ciao, Tiffany

  38. Bree June 14, 2007 at 12:38 am #

Now, I would never think to come to a house warming with out a small gift. I will remember to put it in my suitcase on my next trip over!

  41. rohanknitter June 14, 2007 at 5:38 am #

I’m all updated! The coffee sounds wonderful, as does that frozen concoction you posted about further up.
Speaking of wonderful, I got my raffle prize in the mail today!! Thanks so much, it was so much fun to open a package from Italy. The photos on the cards are amazing. Everything was in great shape, the chocolate was a little melty, but that’s easily fixed!

Oh, my God! I leave the Internet for six days and when I come back what I find? You have completely moved!
Next time I’ll steal the laptop from my boyfriend and I’ll take it abroad with me, definitely I can’t miss all these things :P.
Updating all links and feeds and whatever right now.
Congratulations on your new home, it looks very cosy! πŸ™‚

  45. Shelley, At Home in Rome June 15, 2007 at 11:13 am #

Thanks everybody! You guys are great!

    Keep the entries rolling in…

PS. You may have noticed that I changed the feed address. I am clueless when it comes to technological things, and it’s a long story. But I think it will work both if you re-subscribed to the original feed address ( the new one, which is (easier to remember). Or, as they say here in Rome: BOH! Who really knows!

The important thing is that you keep joining me on my adventures here.

  46. Toni June 16, 2007 at 12:30 am #

I’m here! Love the site. My parents are from Sicily, but I was born in the USA. Would love to stop by and say hello the next time we’re in Rome.

  54. Susan July 1, 2007 at 1:49 am #

Just found your apartments and blog today. Both look like my kind of places. Thinking seriously about Rome in November. Check out my favorite food blog (and actually the only blog I ever read)
We’re Peet’s coffee fans here in the San Francisco Bay Area.
But I’d love to check out your Italian roast. Also Richiutti Chocolates.
